Your mission is simple: see how many outdoor discoveries you can find together using our free nature bingo sheets – or create your own personalised version.
Screen-free summer week 1 challenge: Mini Nature Detectives!

Download and print our nature bingo sheets, then head outside and start searching. You could try the challenge in your garden, at the local park, on the school run, during a woodland walk or on a family day out. Every discovery counts, wherever you find it.
There’s no need to complete the whole sheet in one go. Take it with you throughout the week, tick off finds as you go and see whether your family can fill a row – or perhaps even spot them all.
Make your own nature bingo sheet
Want to make the challenge your own? Draw a simple grid and fill it with things you might find nearby. Children can help choose the pictures or words, decorate the sheet and add their own local discoveries.
Depending on where you live and the ages of your children, you could look for:
- A feather
- Something yellow
- A smooth stone
- A bee or butterfly
- A bird singing
- An interesting-shaped leaf
- A spider’s web
- Something that smells lovely
Ways to make it even more fun:
- Take turns being the chief detective and leading the search.
- Bring crayons and make leaf or bark rubbings along the way.
- Look closely without disturbing wildlife, picking plants or leaving anything behind.
- For younger children, focus on colours, sounds and simple objects.
- For older children, add trickier clues or identify the plants, birds and insects you see.
