Keeping an eye on your baby's room temperature becomes particularly important when the weather can't make its mind up, and there's a simple nursery gadget designed to let you check it without even getting out of bed.

The Tommee Tippee Groegg2 is currently £17.07 at Amazon as a Prime deal, down from a listed RRP of £32.99. That's a sizeable 48% saving.

It's a particularly interesting price for us because when MadeForMums tested the Groegg2, our reviewer praised its effectiveness and ease of use but thought it was expensive for what it did, explicitly advising parents to "look out for discounts". It has since gone on to win Gold for Best Safety Tech at the MadeForMums Tech Awards 2025.

The Groegg2 combines two nursery products in one: a digital room thermometer and a colour-changing nightlight.

Rather than having to read the temperature display every time you wake, the silicone dome changes colour according to how warm the room is. It glows blue at 16°C and below, yellow between 16°C and 20°C, orange between 20°C and 24°C and red above 24°C.

That means a glance at the colour can give you an immediate indication of the room temperature during the night.

The light also has adjustable brightness, so you can turn it up when you need more visibility for a night-time nappy change or feed, then reduce it for sleep.

What did we think of the Tommee Tippee Groegg2?

When we first reviewed the Groegg2, it was sold under The Gro Company brand. Tommee Tippee has since acquired The Gro Company, which is why you'll now see the same Groegg2 sold under the Tommee Tippee name.

MadeForMums reviewer Natasha awarded the Groegg2 3.8 out of 5 overall, but that score doesn't quite tell the whole story.

The Groegg2 received a full 5 out of 5 for both effectiveness and ease of use, with its sleek design and adjustable light also impressing. Value for money was its weakest area, scoring just 2 out of 5.

At the time, Natasha's advice was simple: "The RRP is £29.99, which is a tad pricey for a nightlight or room thermometer, so look out for discounts if you’re thinking of buying the Groegg2."

With Amazon's current price sitting at £17.07, that discount has well and truly arrived.

Why did the Groegg2 win a MadeForMums Tech Award?

The Groegg2 has also been through more recent MadeForMums testing, winning Gold for Best Safety Tech at the MadeForMums Tech Awards 2025.

Awards judge Catherine tested it with her 11-month-old and particularly liked being able to understand the temperature of her baby's room at a glance.

The Groegg 2 takes all the guess work out of knowing what to dress your baby in, to keep them safe and comfortable. I like the colour changing night light and how you can easily see if it's too hot in baby's room in the night just by the colour – plus it helps us see to do the night feed!

Our Awards team also tested the Groegg2 during hot weather, when its colour-changing display made it particularly easy to spot when the nursery was getting warm.

It's also a product that isn't limited to the newborn stage. The combination of thermometer and adjustable nightlight means it can remain useful as your baby grows into a toddler and preschooler.

Is £17.07 a good price for the Tommee Tippee Groegg2?

Price was the main drawback when we originally reviewed the Groegg2, so getting it for almost half Amazon's listed £32.99 RRP makes this deal particularly appealing.

It's worth remembering that this is a deliberately simple product. There's no app, white noise or smart-home connectivity. It's essentially a room thermometer with an easy-to-understand colour display that doubles as a nightlight.

But simplicity was also one of the things we liked about it. Our reviewer gave it top marks for both effectiveness and ease of use, while our more recent awards judges considered it worthy of Gold.

At £17.07 in Amazon's Prime deal, we'd be much less concerned about the value-for-money issue raised in our original review, particularly if you're looking for both a nursery thermometer and nightlight.
