October has arrived, the temperature is dropping and suddenly getting a family's washing dry without relying on the tumble dryer becomes a whole lot trickier. Which makes the timing of this Amazon deal particularly handy.

The Lakeland Dry:Soon 3-Tier Heated Airer is currently £127.99 at Amazon, down from its £159.99 RRP. That's £32 off, or a 20% saving.

And this isn't just any heated airer. After speaking to parents about the models they actually use at home, we named the Dry:Soon 3-Tier our best heated airer for drying a big load in our guide to the best heated clothes airers.

If your washing basket seems to refill the moment you've emptied it, capacity is one of the Dry:Soon's biggest attractions.

There's 21m of drying space spread across 3 tiers, with capacity for up to 15kg of wet laundry. Lakeland says that's roughly equivalent to 2 full wash loads.

The shelves can also be rearranged depending on what you're drying. You can lay delicate items flat or fold sections down to make room for longer and bulkier pieces.

It's a substantial airer when open, measuring 73cm deep, 75cm wide and 137cm high, but once the washing is finally dealt with, it folds almost completely flat for storage.

Why do MadeForMums parents rate the Dry:Soon?

When we asked parents which heated airers they were using, the Lakeland Dry:Soon was by far the most popular model.

Parent tester Laura uses it for her family's laundry and was particularly impressed by just how much washing she could get onto it.

It's fab, it fits almost 2 loads of washing on and a little bonus is it helps heat the room up.

Another MadeForMums parent tester, Cali, found it a useful alternative to waiting days for washing to air dry.

It uses much less energy than a tumble dryer and the washing doesn't take days to dry.

The 300W airer uses thermostatically controlled heated aluminium bars to help clothes dry, and our guide calculated its running cost at around 10p per hour at the electricity prices used when our figures were calculated. Your actual cost will depend on your current energy tariff.

Is the Lakeland Dry:Soon worth £127.99?

Even with £32 off, this isn't a cheap clothes airer. But if you're looking for an alternative to repeatedly running a tumble dryer as we head into colder and wetter weather, there's a lot of drying space for the money.

Its 15kg capacity and 21m of drying space are particularly appealing for families producing large amounts of laundry, and being able to fold it flat makes storing it considerably easier when it's not needed.

There are some compromises. It takes up a fair amount of floor space when fully open, there's no built-in timer and a cover isn't included as standard.

Our parent tester Laura found adding a Dry:Soon cover helped speed up drying, although that's an additional purchase.

But at £127.99 instead of £159.99, Amazon's Prime deal knocks £32 off an airer that's already our pick for tackling bigger laundry loads.

With autumn firmly underway and opportunities for line-drying rapidly disappearing, this is one household deal we'd take a closer look at if the washing basket never seems to stay empty for long.
