Sterilising bottles and pump parts can feel relentless during the newborn months, particularly when you're doing it several times a day. So we've spotted a substantial Amazon saving on a UV steriliser that's already been put through its paces by MadeForMums parents.

The Vital Baby UV Baby Bottles Steriliser & Dryer is currently £85.49 at Amazon, down from an RRP of £139.99. That's £54.50 off, or a 39% saving.
And price is particularly relevant here. When we tested the Vital Baby UV Steriliser & Dryer, it achieved a strong 4.4 out of 5 overall, including full marks for ease of use and durability. Its relatively high price was one of our tester's biggest reservations, so a discount of this size makes it much more interesting.

Rather than relying on steam or chemicals, the Vital Baby uses UV technology to sterilise. The current model is designed to kill 99.99% of germs, bacteria and viruses, according to Vital Baby, with a sterilising cycle taking just 5 minutes.
It can also dry and sterilise, so there are no wet bottles to leave on a drying rack afterwards. And because there's no water or steam involved, you don't have the regular descaling associated with many traditional steam sterilisers.
It's not limited to bottles either. Vital Baby says it can be used with suitable breast pump parts and soothers, as well as household items including phones, keys and make-up brushes.
What did our parent testers think of the Vital Baby UV steriliser?

MadeForMums reviewer Amber Manders tested the NURTURE Advanced Pro UV Steriliser & Dryer every day with her 6-week-old daughter's bottles and dummies. Her family also tried it with everything from bath toys to a mobile phone, keys and make-up brushes.
The model Amber tested scored 4.4 out of 5 overall, with a perfect 5 out of 5 for ease of use and durability. She particularly liked the simple set-up, sleek design and the fact there was no descaling required.

Fellow MFM parent tester Shelby, who tested it with her 3-month-old, found its simplicity particularly useful during busy days with a baby.
This steriliser is so quick and easy to use, it makes my life so much easier by saving me time. It's just one button to turn it on and one button to start the cycle, which is so easy and foolproof.
Shelby, MadeForMums parent tester
The Vital Baby Advanced Pro UV steriliser range has since picked up Gold for Best Baby Bottle Tech in the MadeForMums Awards.

Awards tester Ama put the Advanced Pro UV Steriliser & Dryer through its paces with her 3-week-old baby during a period of near-constant bottle and breast-pump-part sterilising. She found being able to sterilise, dry and then keep items sterile inside the closed unit particularly useful for batch preparation.
Is the Vital Baby UV Steriliser worth £85.49?
This is where the Amazon saving becomes especially interesting.
Our original review was very positive about the steriliser itself, but value for money was its lowest-scoring category at 3.1 out of 5. Reviewer Amber described it as a "really sleek, impressive product and a fantastic alternative to steam sterilising", but felt its premium price was difficult to justify, particularly given its capacity.
Capacity is still something to consider. With the model we reviewed, items couldn't simply be stacked on top of one another because the UV rays needed to reach their surfaces. Amber found she could comfortably fit around 4 bottles, 3 teats and 2 lids, while another tester using MAM bottles could only fit 2 bottles.
So, if you're looking to sterilise a large number of bottles simultaneously, it's worth considering whether the capacity will work for your routine.
But the convenience impressed our testers. Bottles came out dry, there was no descaling to worry about and our review model could also keep items sterile inside for up to 72 hours.
At £85.49 rather than £139.99, the biggest sticking point identified during our testing has been substantially reduced. If you've specifically been considering a UV steriliser and dryer, this is a deal we'd take a closer look at.
